About Dr. Heidi

Dr. Heidi is Nationally Board Certified in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine and specializes in Regenerative root cause Internal Medicine.

As the daughter of a 100% Disabled Navy Seal, I made it a priority to address military, veterans and family members, as well as the range of health concerns that arise in this population and go untreated.

Growing up on the Big Island of Hawaii, I had a deep reverence for nature and the healing arts. As a child with unexplained nutritional deficiencies and health issues, my mother and grandparents always taught me about nutrition. Throughout high school, I missed a record amount of days due to respiratory illness and pain. At 18 years old, my grandmother gifted her a library of natural healing books from East Asian Medicine and Nutrition that had found food to be one of the main sources of disease. From that moment on, my healing journey began as a road to self discovery and guiding others.

My grandmother always talked fondly about how acupuncture healed her scar after surgery back in the 1980s. In 2014, I dared myself to try acupuncture and immediately felt my calling. Within 2 months I had signed up for a 5 year acupuncture program and never looked back.

While completing my Doctorate degree externship in 2018, my house flooded from a plumbing leak while interning with Dr. Humiston, “the toxic mold and candida specialist of San Diego”. Expecting to be ready to start a practice with my post graduate energy and enthusiasm, I experienced feeling the sickest she had ever felt in her life. Shortly after interning, I started working at the Center for Health and Wellbeing as a practitioner where each patient had 3-10 practitioners monitoring their progress and metrics with some of the top functional medicine practitioners in San Diego. This insight and experience working with Chinese medicine and functional medicine with western medicine changed my view on the future of medicine and potential of healing others with extra care and seeing labs with using Chinese medicine.

In 2019, I founded Gem & Tonic with the vision to change medicine, and I continue to do so with my mission to educate on the health risks of common lifestyle choices and health hazards.

In 2025, I finally decided to make the move to Idaho I had been dreaming of since I was in high school 20 years earlier.

In my spare time I enjoy camping, working on my VW Van, water sports, and listening to music.
